ABOUT THE COURSE

Through the right teaching method anyone can master Photoshop like a professional. My aim is to provide a quality learning experience, so that you make the connection between the technical and creative application of Photoshop.

Its one thing knowing how to perform a software task, knowing how to apply that knowledge in a creative and aesthetic way is a skill in itself, and very often not taught. I’ve been using Photoshop since 1998 and teaching it since 2003.

Many education providers offer basic courses that don’t cover creative use, they also have a ‘bums on seats’ mindset, so its common to have groups of 18 – 25 students.

I’m comfortable teaching large groups, however I prefer my courses to offer quality over quantity, and therefore limit the amount of students per class. This allows me to focus my attention on each student, so by the end of each class & the course everyone will have has fully mastered the course learning objectives.

There will be other courses to follow later on in the term. These courses will be designed to lead on from the beginners course and specialise in specific methods for artists, craft makers, photographers and the enthusiast.

There will also be a WordPress course designed to compliment this course, aimed specifically for artists who want to promote and produce their own on-line portfolio to display their artwork.

ABOUT NICK DOYLE

I’m currently a freelance web and graphic designer, I moved to Brighton 10 years ago to teach digital media at Sussex University. I’ve studied BSc & MSc Multimedia Design, MA Visual Communication and Teacher training. As a BSc graduate I realised that my knowledge was mostly technical and felt I lacked understanding of artistic and creative skills. It then became my mission to understand the practice of art and creativity, through exploring my own personal creative journey.

I’ve studied, taught and professionally practised digital media design, and worked in eLearning, interactive & graphic design, education, freelance and private sectors. I am passionate about helping individuals through the use of learning technology and art. I do this through creative exploration and discovery, combined with structured and pragmatic lessons.

With 14 year’s combined professional experience in education, design and technical support. I have successfully taught many people from ages 14 up to 77 including different cultures, skills levels and abilities. I have also had some work displayed in a national touring exhibition and book, based on the poetry of Dylan Thomas.

Creative Influences
music, texture, light, photo-collage, layers, architecture, words, poetry, space, place, dreams, photo-illustration and mixed-media, visual narrative, typography, abstraction, surrealism, constructivism, modernism.
