“I grew up in Bognor Regis and went to Sussex University to study Biology. My mother took a dim view of art schools even though she was an artist herself. But you can’t keep a good artist down, so after university I went to Brighton to study illustration.  I illustrated computer games in the early eighties, which involved making Pac-man look interesting.

In 1995 I joined the Fiveways Artist group. I have exhibited in the Brighton Festival Open Houses nearly every year since then, as well as having exhibitions in the US, the Netherlands, France and of course, Sussex.
After children I became an art teacher. I have taught all over Brighton in the past 25 years. As I trained as an illustrator I teach traditional skills and have taught courses in all media over the years.   I can teach anything to anybody from absolute beginners basic drawing skills to painting like the old masters with oil paints.
My passion is life drawing, portrait and landscapes in watercolours and oils.
In my teaching I like to deliver a structured course with interesting and stimulating subject matter to develop everybody’s skills.  I always do demonstrations which I find the greatest help to my students where they can see how the media works.”
